On August 26th, 2021, the Northeast Asian Studies College, the  Northeast Asian Research Center, the Institute of Korean Peninsular Studies and the Department of East Asian Studies of Dongseo University in Korea jointly held The 5th China-Korea Northeast Asia Cooperation Forum with the theme of U.S.-China Relations and Northeast Asia Cooperation under the Biden Administration. The conference was hosted by the Department of East Asian Studies of Dongseo University and was held online. Professor Wu Hao, Dean of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University, Professor Shin Jeongcheong, Dean of the Department of East Asian Studies of Dongseo University, Guo Peng, Consul General of the Chinese Consulate General in Busan, delivered opening speeches respectively, Kim Chun-chee, former Minister of Korea Institute of National Unification, gave a keynote speech, and Professor Zhang Huizhi, Director of the Institute of Korean Peninsular Studies of Jilin University, made a summary of the meeting.

    More than 20 experts and scholars from Jilin University, Shandong University, Dalian University of Foreign Languages in China and Dongseo University, Korea Institute for National Unification, Asan Institute for Policy Studies, Pusan National University, Pusan Institute, Pukyong National University, Dong-A University and Kookmin University participated in the conference. The conference conducted in-depth exchanges on two major topics: Sino-U.S. Relations and Northeast Asia under the Biden Administration and Sino- South Korea Cooperation, and the Chinese and Korean scholars had a thorough and in-depth discussion on international relations in Northeast Asia, the situation on the Korean Peninsula, and Sino-South Korea cooperation, which provided new insights and ideas for cooperation in Northeast Asia.

    This meeting is an important result of the cooperation and exchange between the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University and the Department of East Asian Studies of Dongseo University , and the two sides signed a cooperation agreement in 2017 and have held a total of 5 academic conferences so far. During the meeting, the two sides re-emphasized the need to continue to strengthen cooperation between the two institutions and expand exchanges between Chinese and South Korean scholars.
