JLU Vice President Cai Lidong Met with Ning Fukui, BOD Member of China Foundation for International Studies

    On April 23rd, 2021, Cai Lidong, Vice President of Jilin University, met with Ning Fukui, BOD member of China Foundation for International Studies. Present at the meeting were representatives from the Office of Humanities & Social Sciences Research, the Office of Global Engagement, and the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University (JLU).

    Cai Lidong extended a warm welcome to Ning Fukui. He introduced the development of JLU in the recent years, especially briefing on JLUs traditional advantages and research progress in Northeast Asian studies. Through this cooperation between the Northeast Asian Studies College and Mr. Ning, it is hoped that the academic building of relevant disciplines will benefit from his rich diplomatic experiences over the years, so the comprehensive capacity of Northeast Asian studies will be improved continuously with positive contributions made to the peaceful development of Northeast Asia.

    Ning Fukui expressed his appreciation of the warm reception from JLU, along with his recognition of its efforts in deepening regional cooperation in Northeast Asia. He also expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation with scholars in relevant fields at JLU to jointly serve the national diplomacy and regional development strategy.

    During his visit, Mr. Ning also held discussions with faculty and students from the Northeast Asian Research Center and the School of International and Public Affairs of JLU on topics such as the Korean Peninsula. Ning Fukui once served as the Chinese Ambassador to Cambodia, South Korea and Thailand.
