Katae Takashi, Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in Shenyang, Paid a Visit
On March 7th, 2023, Katae Takashi, Consul General of the Consulate General of Japan in Shenyang and Chika Tanabe, Deputy Consul General led a delegation to visit the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University.
Professor Wu Hao, Dean of Northeast Asian Studies College of JLU, extended a warm welcome to the delegation. He introduced the development of Northeast Asian Studies College, Institute for Northeast Asian Studies and Northeast Asian Research Center (a Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences of Ministry of Education) of JLU, and their cooperation with Japan. Dean Wu Hao noted that JLU boasts a long history of Northeast Asia international and regional studies, and has always attached great importance to Japan studies and personnel training, with close exchanges and cooperation established with many Japanese universities and research institutions to promote peace and development in Northeast Asia.
Consul General Katae Takashi expressed his pleasure to visit the Northeast Asian Studies College and Institute for Northeast Asian Studies of Jilin University and hold a symposium. Since the Consulate General of Japan in Shenyang is in charge of consular issues in the three provinces of Northeast China, he hoped to promote exchanges and cooperation between Jilin University, especially the Northeast Asian Studies College and other related institutes, and Japan.
During the symposium, in-depth exchanges were conducted by both sides on the research on Japan and training of relevant professionals at Jilin University, and approaches for Japan to participating in the revitalization of Northeast China.
Also present at the symposium were Li Meihua, Chief of Office of Global Engagement of Jilin University, Lu Shuang, Deputy Director of Translation Center of Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province and others.
