From April 23rd to April 24th, 2021, Professor Cui Jian, Deputy Dean of Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University (Institute of Northeast Asian Studies), and a delegation of 9 people went to Nanjing to attend the 2021 Annual Conference of the Chinese Association for Japanese Studies of CASS. With the theme of Japan and the Regional Situation in East Asia under the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic, more than 100 scholars from across the country spoke, commented and discussed issues regarding economy and society, politics and security, diplomacy and Sino-Japanese relations and regional situation in East Asia.
On the 23rd, Professor Cui Jian, Professor Ba Dianjun, Professor Shen Haitao, Associate Professor Li Hongmei, Associate Professor Zhang Yanzhe and Associate Professor Xuan Chunji from Northeast Asian Studies College (Institute of Northeast Asian Studies) gave speeches respectively in subconferences in topics of analysis of changes in Japan's FDI management policy from the perspective of economic security, study on characteristics of Japan's Regional Realism, Shinzo Abe's legacy and Japan's diplomatic strategic transformation, research on sustainable development strategy of Japanese enterprises based on SDGs, analysis of the US and Japan's call for enterprises to withdraw from China under the background of the COVID-19 pandemic and China-Japan-ROK cooperation in the Biden era. The atmosphere of discussion during the conference was lively and intense, and the views of each scholar from our college were approved by the participating experts, which posed certain influence on the meeting.
On the 24th, Professor Cui Jian and others visited the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre of the Japanese Invaders, and participated in the expert forum on Sino-Japanese relations from the perspective of the centenary of the founding of the CPC.
This conference fully demonstrated the overall academic level of the Northeast Asian Studies College of Jilin University (Institute of Northeast Asian Studies) in Japanese studies, and further expanded the academic influence at home and abroad.
